Why are carp an aquatic invader?
Asian Carp viciously eat large amounts of plankton and leave small amounts for other fish to
eat. They also reproduce quickly which causes the river to fill up and other fish has to leave. The
biggest problem is that Asian carp compete for food with other fish when they move to a new habitat.
Asian carp are they reason of fish losing habitat and dying out. Carp are brought from China to stop
big fish from eating the clams grown by fish farmers. Asian carp eat a large amount of clams that fish
farmers grow and they destroy their nets. Fish farmers pay fishers to fish for carps to fight against this
invasion. Many people are fighting against this invasion but the Asian carp are still coming close to the
great lakes.
